World Republic Federation was an organization of countries that grew out of the former United Nations, which proposed aggressive space development and colonization as an answer to Earth's worsening environmental and energy crises.
This government is presumed to have been a leading force in Earth politics in the pre-Space Date era and had a substantial conventional military (to which Stephen D. Kenny belonged as an Air Force pilot), aside from nuclear capability. Territorial disputes over the planets of the solar system placed it in conflict with an opposing alliance of nations.
This dispute eventually led to open warfare between the Federation and the opposing nations in 2064 A.D. At the end of the war, it is presumed this governing body was dissolved or integrated upon the emergence of the Greater United Nations.
Aside from this, not much is known about the Federation, date of formation, nor the countries that built it.
